The International Council of Chemical Associations is the voice of the global chemical industry in the negotiations with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), governments and NGOs to eliminate plastic pollution.
They have selected Agilis-SpecialChem's ionicPIM and the SpecialChem industry master data to feed their online database released for the current negotiation in Busan, South Korea.
“SpecialChem is honored by the trust in its data and software of the body that represents the entire chemical industry. We are truly excited to contribute at our level to finding solutions for a more sustainable planet,” Christophe Cabarry, CEO of SpecialChem.
INC-5 is the current round of negotiations between the industry, governments and NGOs that is taking place in Busan, South Korea, this week. It is the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5). NGOs, Governments and the industry representatives (ICCA) are discussing plans to fight the global plastics pollution. The ICCA committed in previous INCs to create an exhaustive database of Plastic Additives used in commerce. But not the commercial names, the generic names. The database provides profiles with industry-validated information about their identity, nature, applications, functions, risks and hazards.
SpecialChem, that has created the Industry Master Data of commercially available Plastic Additives has participated in building the V1 of the ICCA database. SpecialChem validates the function, markets and compatible polymers of each polymer additive profile and confirms if they are used in commerce as Plastic Additive or not. They started with a first batch of validation for INC-5, as a first version to prove the concept and get feedback, but it will expand to many more additive profiles. Agilis-SpecialChem's ionicPIM is used as the platform to manage all the Additive Profiles product information in a digital, standardized and centralized way with great usability for both product edition and search. The ICCA database is made to bring transparency and effective decision making by the governments. It is open to Academics, governments and NGOs on demand.
